Hi lovelies,
So you know how I have no impulse control when I get a mad idea in my head? (yes, I blame Hermes)
WELL…the thing is, I’m turning 40 on the 4th of July, and ‘Fastest Kill’ is my 42nd Alessa release since I launched in 2020 (which kind of explains why I’m so tired). For those of you who aren’t massive nerds, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question in ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.’ My brain has fixated on this 40 and 42 on the 4th thing, so it’s happening. ‘Fastest Kill’ will be live on the Zon on the 4th. The worst day in the worst month of the year to launch a book, but fuck it, we ball for the fun of it here in Casa dei Thorn.
Yes, this is how I make my business decisions. Sometimes you have to do the ridiculous thing for a stress release.
Here’s the deal, and it’s a good one…
For a limited time — until July 2 ONLY — you can grab ‘Fastest Kill’ straight from my Curios store, cheaper than it’ll be when it lands on Amazon.
A couple of reasons now is the best possible moment to nab it:
- It’s cheaper here than it’ll be on Amazon. Same book, smaller price — because I get to keep more royalties direct. You win, I win. Yay!
- You get the actual files to keep forever. Properly downloaded, properly yours — no platform quietly deciding one day to yank it off your device. Buy it once, own it for real.
- After July 2 it toddles off to KU and Amazon at full price like a normal well-behaved book, so this little window is the cheap one. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
What you’re in for:
A charmer with a secret. An assassin with zero tolerance. A rivalry that’s about to burn them both alive.
Dario Colleoni has spent his life being the one everyone underestimates, the charming one with a drink in his hand and a secret he’s kept since the night his father died. With Rodrigo finally happy and Leo settled in love, Dario should be celebrating. Instead, he’s drinking his way across Istanbul, haunted by the woman who shot his client two years ago and left him a bullet casing with a heart carved into it.
Frederica Alesci doesn’t do soft. She doesn’t miss, doesn’t fail, and certainly doesn’t tolerate love. So when she ends up drunk in a Cretan holding cell at three in the morning, she resents that the one person she can call for help is the infuriating Italian she’s spent two years pretending to hate.
A trip to Rhodes to dig through her father’s records was supposed to be a quick detour on their hunt for Serapis. What Dario and Frederica uncover instead is a trail of stolen artifacts, a five-hundred-year-old enemy the Colleoni’s and Edgeworth’s never knew existed, and the kind of partnership that turns professional rivalry into something neither of them is ready for.

This is the final book in the ‘Mercenaries and Magic’ series, and saying goodbye to this chaotic mercenary fam has me in my feelings, not gonna lie, but Fred and Dario made it the most fun. Rivals-to-lovers, two emotionally constipated idiots falling for the exact person guaranteed to wreck them? It is precisely my brand of nonsense, and I love them so much it’s stupid.
That’s all from me — I’m off to keep on drafting Fenris a.k.a. Von has opinions about Norse myth a.k.a. the Norns have a lot to answer for with this fellowship.
Grab Dario and Frederica before July 2. Go go go. 🖤
Alessa xx
P.S. I’m gonna put up an FYI post about this release on Instagram, but I’m not there for anything else (it’s not a healthy place for me), so this blog and my Ream are where I actually live. Drop a comment here if you want to reach me — I get the notification, and I promise I’ll answer. xx
